8 Things They Don’t Tell You About Senior Year | Seniors

I realized that I haven’t really done any senior specific posts in a long time in addition to sessions, so this post is dedicated to all of my wonderful seniors out there!

I work with seniors exclusively (mostly), because I just love them so much. So naturally, I hear about what’s going on in each of their crazy lives. There are definitely many things you experience over the course of this last year in high school. Good things, intimidating things, exciting things, last-time things, you name it. This is what I gathered. Here we go.

#1. Senior Pictures. (My personal favorite)

These pictures are meant to capture who you are at this point in your youth since so many milestones are happening around this time in your life. It can be pretty stressful because of this, especially when you’re trying to showcase who you are through only a few outfits and props!! Picking the right senior photographer *hint hint* will help you make it all so much easier, and your pictures will turn out great. I promise, you won’t be embarrassed of them 20 years later. 😉

#2. Friends—old and new.

Everyone makes new friends this year, regardless of if you’re trying to or not. People are just so much nicer, and while drama never quite goes away, everyone grows up so much in this year. You may even start to drift away from friends you’ve had all of high school and that is okay too, make sure to remember that.

#3. Choosing a college.

For those of you who are going to college, deciding on one is a whole task in itself. You may get lucky and fall in love with one right away which is what I wish would happen for all of us but it just doesn’t. There are so many options to consider too, from price, to distance, to the campus environment, you name it. It can definitely be stressful, but it can also be pretty fun thinking about the next chapter of your life!

#4. Having a job.

Some may get a job just to “have a little extra money,” but lots of parents want you to save that money for college. This can easier said than done for sure. Even though high school jobs have a reputation for being quite sub-par, it’ll give you the motivation to work hard down the road so you don’t have to do that kind of work the rest of your life! Plus, it does feel nice to buy whatever you want once in awhile.

#5. Scholarships.

You’ve heard about them your whole high school career, and now here they are. They’re not fun to do, especially all at once, but if you get them it feels so good!! Plus, any money you can get for free that goes towards college is worth writing how you describe yourself and what your career and educational goals are.

#6. Senioritis.

It’s truly a whole disease in inself. Think you’ve got it as a sophomore? You don’t. It can be good and bad, but honestly it affects everyone at some point. Symptoms include: procrastination like never before, thinking about what class you’ll get to take a nap in that day, not caring what you wear, and only being focused on getting out. It kind of comes on gradually, so always be on guard! 😉

#7. Prom.

This is your last prom and it’s totally just as fun to go with your friends as it is with an s/o. Wear a gorgeous dress, plan a super fun day-after, and make sure it’s what it’s meant to be—fun.

#8. Last Times.

The feelings come randomly when doing something and you realize it’s the last time you’ll get to experience it. Even the littlest things, like bonding with your classmates or going to the last homecoming football game can really get you like you never thought it would. Yeah everyone can’t wait to get out of high school, but it was a huge part of your life and making you the person you are today, and that is why it never fails to tug on your heart strings.

This is to you seniors, you can make it these last couple of months!!
